In the Maldives, the Green Tax is levied on tourists based on their accommodation type and duration of stay. To automate the application of this tax in eZee Absolute, follow these steps:
Configure Guest Categories:
- Log in to eZee Absolute Configuration.
- Navigate to the Masters section.
- Select VIP Status.
- Define the following statuses:
- 1: Tourist
- 2: Local
- 3: Work Permit Holder
Assign VIP Status to Guests:
- During booking or check-in, add each guest as a sharer.
- In the guest details, select the appropriate VIP Status:
- Tourist: Green Tax will be applied.
- Local or Work Permit Holder: Green Tax will NOT be applied.
Important Note: If the VIP Status is not assigned, the system will assume the guest is not a tourist, and the Green Tax will be automatically exempted.
Potential Implications of Incorrect Configuration:
- Overpayment of Green Tax.
- Discrepancies in reports compared to MIRA calculations.
- Additional time spent on rectifying errors.
By ensuring the correct setup and assignment of VIP Status, eZee Absolute will automatically manage Green Tax calculations, aligning with Maldivian regulations.
